American Accent Workshop

March 09, 2019

How's your American accent? Near native? That's what casting directors want. And your accent can be, no matter what your age if you join us for the American Accent Workshop in Harrogate, from 1-4pm.

WANT TO INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF GETTING WORK?

Next time you watch an American film or TV series, you might be surprised that it was shot in Europe. With English actors. Why? No taxes, so low costs - but if it's EDITED in America it's classed as a 'Union' project. So, a win win scenario for English actors. The NatGeo series ‘Einstein’ alone needed 150 UK-based actors with near-perfect American accents for their shoot in Prague!

Never miss out again on the chance to audition with confidence for an American character - whether on TV, film or stage.

This fun workshop gives young actors, age 10-18, the skills to handle any script requiring a General American Accent, whether it's High School Musical, School of Rock or Grease.

  • strengthen your skills for roles on stage, TV and film.

  • work from actual scripts, songs and monologues.

  • includes course book for further study.

Presented by American School of Acting's principal teacher, Bryan Bounds, professional US actor, voiceover artist, teacher, writer, producer and director with 35-years' professional experience, currently starring with David Tennant in the film, ‘Mad To Be Normal’.

VENUE & FEE:

  • School venue: Westcliffe Hall, Off Cold Bath Road, Harrogate, HG2 0PN.

  • Workshop fee: £20. Get a 50% discount if you book the Audition Masterclass immediately preceding, when you enter the discount code: Stanislavski.

Killer Camera Course & Self Taping Survival

March 16, 2019

Join the actors who nail their auditions because they get their training by the go-to place for serious actors, the American School of Acting in Harrogate.

From 1-4pm, you'll learn how to rise above the rest at your next casting.

Why take an audition workshop? Because no actor was over discovered – that’s a myth that is believed only by non-actors. Any actor who has ever lived has had to learn the skill of auditioning. Nobody likes it. Why?

  • It’s acting for a judgmental audience of one. YIKES!

  • Auditioning is a different skill set from acting - but most actors don’t realise that.

  • We don’t audition everyday, so we get rusty - except those who know the tools.

During this three-hour workshop, you'll learn to avoid the pitfalls and use the tools for success:

  • learn how to prepare your script

  • learn how to create a winning self-tape - you’ll actually produce one in class!

  • learn tips about what to wear and how to present yourself

  • learn techniques that calm your nerves so you can perform with confidence

  • get takeaways like the audition cheat sheet, and downloads for future help.

Presented by professional actor/teacher/producer Bryan Bounds, founder of the American School of Acting, with 35-years' auditioning experience.

VENUE & FEE:

  • School venue: Westcliffe Hall, Off Cold Bath Road, Harrogate, HG2 0PN.

  • Workshop fee: £30. Get a 50% discount if you book the American Accent Workshop immediately afterwards when you enter the discount code: Stanislavski.

  • overcome stage fright

  • make your acting more honest, fearless and fascinating!

Presented by professional actor and teacher Bryan Bounds, with 25-years' experience as a Method actor. Workshop fee: £20
